Despite some good rain so far, the Western Cape continues to experience water scarcity following poor rains for the last several years. The city has asked all residents to limit consumption to 50 litres per day in order to conserve available resources until further notice.
At Derwent House, we have signed a Water-wise pledge from the Hospitality Federation and are implementing all possible water-saving measures throughout the property. We appeal for guests’ understanding and cooperation in these circumstances and are asking all guests to be water-wise while staying with us: not to run baths, turning off the tap while brushing teeth, collecting the cool water from your shower in the bucket provided for that purpose, and such measures.
We are periodically obliged to close our pool and jacuzzi when water levels drop below the minimum required to run the filtration systems, and do sometimes experience increased cloudiness and sediment build-up as we are unable to backwash the pool due to water wastage. We ask for your understanding and very much appreciation your support.
